Commercial Freezers – not something you think a lot about unless you own just about any type of retail business. If you fit into that category, however, then checking out Mission Restaurant Supply should definitely be on you itinerary in the near future. With a huge selection and great prices, they really helped turn my business around and can help you too. First, let me tell you a little about myself and how I started.
Originally, I just rented a small corner building in my local neighborhood. I used that building (at first) to open a small retail convenient store and sold things like cigarettes, chips, snacks, and some basic grocery items. As the business first started to grow, I purchased a small freezer from Mission Restaurant Supply (M.R.S) which I used to sell royalty ice cream treats out of. Additionally, I purchased an ice chest freezer from them and started selling ice as well.
As the business continued to thrive, friend of mine advised me to open a small kitchen in one of the back rooms that was only being used to stock excess inventory. It was the perfect setup really, because that small room had a small cutout in the wall facing the front of the store (perfect for customers to order from). That way I could start selling meals out of there a couple times a day (lunch and dinner specials.) This of course meant that I’d be needing another freezer to keep frozen hamburger patties, fish, pizza puffs, wings, tenders, and a few other items in.
The trouble was, at this point, my tiny little corner store was running out of space, so I was going to need something pretty compact. Well, again M.R.S. had just the solution for me. Given my limited space, I was going to need something that either could fit underneath the back counter, or something that could eliminate something else out of that small back kitchen area. I chose to go with the latter because I love dual purpose items!
I chose to go with a worktop freezer. In doing so, I was able to eliminate the need for the center nook used for food preparation that once took its place. Now, my cook can just reach below into the freezer, pull out what he needs, and place it on the convenient workstation right on top of the freezer! How convenient is that?!
I Just Keep Going and Going (Like the Bunny)
Since those early days, I have since bought the building and added on to open an ice cream shop right next door that the neighborhood kids absolutely love. Additionally, I am now part owner of a local hotel that serves a continental breakfast. Guess where I bought the additional freezers for both new companies?
Below are the types of freezers I have purchased, as well as where and how I use them.
- Ice Merchandiser – One at my retail store and one at my hotel
- Ice Cream Dipping Cabinets – At my small ice cream shop
- Glass Door Freezer – At my retail store
- Countertop Freezer – At my retail store
- Solid Door Reach in Freezer – One at my kitchen/restaurant and one at my hotel
- Worktop Freezer – At my kitchen/restaurant
As I said, freezers are not something you think a lot about, but if you are a business owner, especially starting out, then you really should. The right freezer in the right place (and of course at the right price) truly can mage a huge difference if you find yourself running various businesses or are cramped for space. Choosing the right freezer to accommodate your personal needs can make all the difference if you find yourself in a similar situation as me.
